Overview
Senior Architect - Civic & Justice role at NELSON Worldwide is open for a highly motivated, team oriented professional to lead multiple projects through the design process, production of construction documents and construction administration as part of a project team. The Senior Architect demonstrates leadership and collaboration to produce design and construction documents. The role covers programming, master planning, conceptual, schematic and design development presentations, 3D modeling, and the ability to implement designs through the CD / CA phases. Responsibilities include participating in design phase activities and coordinating with clients, consultants and contractors throughout the project.
Experience in Civic & Justice building typologies is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate has experience on projects such as correctional facilities, detention centers and courthouses. Other preferred experience includes municipalities, police and fire stations, city and county buildings, and other public works / public safety buildings.

Qualifications
Architectural license in at least 1 stateMinimum 12 years of industry experienceBachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited universityExpertise in AutoCAD, Revit, SpecLink, Newforma, SketchUp, Photoshop and InDesignAdvanced knowledge of building life safety and ADA codesStrong leadership, organization, communication and relationship management skillsExperience in Civic & Justice building typologies is strongly preferred. Leadership Assist project team with design and technical questions during the project; share knowledge with the entire studio and be a resource to all NELSON staff; mentor to staff including interns; contribute as a Team Leader as needed; promote a diverse and inclusive environmentProject Delivery Assist with proposal and contract documents; contribute to work plan; prepare and oversee conceptual, schematic design, design development and construction documents; conduct field surveys; generate design concepts; develop design concepts into complete design development sets and construction drawings; oversee material research; prepare project specifications; communicate with project team and resolve drawing discrepancies; coordinate and incorporate work of internal and external consultants; oversee addenda and bulletin documentation; review shop drawings; sign and seal drawings as needed; review RFIs; attend construction meetings and site visits; prepare punch lists; adhere to NELSON standards; QA review; review building codes and accessibility standards; prepare zoning and building code analysis; assist with timely submittals; maintain project filesClient Relationships Maintain secondary client contact as backup to primary contactBusiness Development Assist in secondary marketing by maintaining good client relationships; attend interviews as requestedContinuing Education and Professional Development Maintain licensure with continuing education; enhance software skills; billable target 90-95%+; enhance management and communicationBenefits and Compensation
