The Database Director is responsible for managing, overseeing, organizing, and being part of the database administrator team, ensuring the security, integrity, accuracy, performance, and availability of Sovos’ multiple Oracle Exadata, Oracle RAC, Oracle Restart, SQL Server, and MySQL databases. The team focuses on database capacity planning, defining processes and best practices for resolving complex database issues, and developing infrastructure to support business growth and scalability for Sovos’ SaaS applications and internal services.

Key Responsibilities
Serve as a Sovos technology referent, involved in advancing shared technology and supporting teams in adopting new technologies or increasing capacity.
Mentor and train multiple teams, promote Sovos shared technologies, and best practices.
Consult across multiple locations and product lines to gain broader perspectives.
Collaborate with tech leads to unify vision and communicate important messages within the team.
Gather and analyze information from various sources to draw intelligent conclusions.
Embrace change proactively and encourage others to do the same.
Organize meetings to keep stakeholders informed about project status and potential issues.
Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Lead the adoption of new technologies, best practices, and shared platform components.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
Over 9 years of experience in Database Management.
Strong understanding of database systems.
Proactive coaching and knowledge transfer skills.
Ability to set technical objectives and provide guidelines.
Knowledge of Sovos frameworks and the ability to leverage solutions across the organization.
Mentorship skills for staff at all levels.
Influence teams to adopt best practices in database systems.
Experience in infrastructure planning, architecture design, backup, and recovery strategies.
Ability to identify issues and propose solutions.
Effective cross-departmental collaboration skills.
Multitasking capabilities across multiple teams and goals.
Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
Ability to interact effectively with colleagues and customers, manage teams, and communicate complex concepts.
