Business Development Manager | Homebuilding + Residential Development

A privately held and fast-growing homebuilder with operations across California and multiple western states is seeking a Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) . This leadership role will drive financial strategy, oversee modeling and forecasting, and support executive decision-making to fuel continued expansion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead company-wide financial planning, forecasting, and modeling across corporate and project levels.
  • Analyze performance drivers, evaluate variances, and deliver actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Build and implement scalable systems for real-time financial insights and scenario planning.
  • Guide land acquisition decisions with in-depth financial models and strategic recommendations.
  • Manage external reporting with lenders, partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering growth and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive financial experience; real estate or homebuilding background strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling / proforma creation.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial concepts to both financial and non-financial audiences.
