Job Overview

As part of the Quality and Outcomes Management Department, this position involves screening, collecting, and analyzing data from various sources such as patient records, databases, and reports. Key responsibilities include identifying opportunities to improve patient care and outcomes, implementing improvement plans, and submitting accurate reports to meet organizational and medical staff needs.

Essential Duties

1. Management and execution of responsibilities : Utilize critical thinking, organization, prioritization, planning, personnel management, operational efficiency, decision-making, and teaching skills.

2. Case review : Perform abstracts summarizing important information related to review criteria.

3. Data analysis : Assist with audits, data retrieval, and analyses, especially in specialties like cardiothoracic or bariatrics.

4. Peer review coordination : Determine review needs and liaise with MD Peer Reviewers, providing education on care improvements.

5. Data reporting : Design indicators, extract data, analyze trends, and present findings, ensuring statistical validity.

6. Regulatory compliance : Incorporate knowledge of applicable federal, state, and JCAHO standards.

7. Staff education : Develop educational tools and facilitate quality improvement initiatives using CQI tools and hospital PI methodology.

8. Additional duties : Perform other assigned tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • At least 2 years of recent critical care experience
  • Critical thinking and organizational skills for managing multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree, preferably in Nursing or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in an acute care setting
  • Experience in quality improvement and peer review
  • Management experience
  • Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (CA Board)
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) within 2 years of hire
  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City), to be obtained within 30 days if not already held
  • The annual salary ranges from $60,320 to $94,020, considering experience, education, skills, and market factors.
