The Senior Accountant is an integral role that requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, a proven track record of advising on business and tax matters, and expertise in accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), reconciliations, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is passionate about excellence, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is eager to contribute to special projects while serving as a backup for our payroll specialist.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and General Ledger
- Prepare and record accurate journal entries to reflect business transactions in the general ledger.
- Reconcile bank accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Assist in preparing financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Support internal and external financial reporting requirements by compiling accurate and timely data.
Month-End and Year-End Processes
Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.Conduct financial data analysis to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with accounting standards.Financial Analysis and Optimization
Perform cost analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to support strategic decision-making.Identify financial trends and propose strategies to optimize financial performance and operational efficiency.Recommend process improvements to streamline accounting workflows and enhance accuracy.Payroll and Backup Support
Serve as a backup for the payroll specialist, including processing payroll and managing timekeeping systems.Support payroll accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.Provide backup support for other accounting roles within the department as needed.Compliance and Audit Support
Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies.Assist in internal and external audits by providing organized documentation and clear explanations.Maintain confidential, accurate, and up-to-date accounting records to ensure data integrity.Collaboration and Leadership
Collaborate with accountants, AP / AR specialists, and other team members to support department goals.Lead or contribute to special projects, such as system implementations or process enhancements.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldProven experience in accounting, with expertise in AP, AR, reconciliations, and financial reporting.Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Familiarity with payroll processing and time management systems is a plus.Exceptional analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.A proactive mindset with a passion for identifying process improvements and driving excellence.Seniority level
