This position involves maintenance at a Depot Level repair facility on aircraft electronic components, including arresting, launching, and recovery systems on aircraft carriers. Travel to ships overseas, including in combat zones, may be required. Military aviation experience is a plus.
Responsibilities include :
- Performing Non Destructive Testing, NAVSEA Level II preferred
- Assisting in jobs related to ALAD systems, NDT, and welding
- Following blueprints, process instructions, and specifications from NAVSEA and NAVAIR
- Manufacturing, assembling, disassembling, repairing, and testing ALRE systems and components
- Installing and servicing hydraulic cylinders, heat exchangers, valves, and safety devices
- Machining parts using portable tools and machines
- Connecting machinery and fluid lines
- Working from technical documents, diagrams, and blueprints
- Ensuring precision in finished products, generally within .001 inch
- Applying broad mechanical trade knowledge and improvising jigs and fixtures
- Operating machine tools and using precision measurement instruments
Qualifications :
High School Diploma or equivalentMinimum four years of relevant experience, with preference for four years of welding experienceMilitary experience and NAVSEA Level II NDT proficiency preferredCertifications in Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, and Visual TestingKnowledge of NDT techniques, test equipment, and defect classificationFamiliarity with machining, pipefitting, and high-pressure systemsAbility to travel and obtain a secret clearanceMust be a US citizen and able to read, write, speak, and understand EnglishPhysical and Environmental Requirements :
Ability to walk, stand, crawl, climb, and lift up to 44 poundsVisual and auditory acuity for inspecting aircraft and reading gaugesWork environment includes inside / outside conditions with noise, dust, fumes, and machineryProlonged or irregular hours may be requiredAdditional Information :
