The California Post will be a game changer, bringing The New York Post’s DNA of powerful, agenda-setting journalism to the West Coast and a fresh voice for California. As part of this expansion into Los Angeles, we are looking for News Reporters (Shift TBD) to join the California Post team, reporting to the LA News Editor with a focus on breaking exclusive stories and covering major events in Los Angeles and beyond.

Reporting to the LA News Editor, the News Reporter will cover wildfires, celebrity scandals, local politics, crime, courts, viral moments, and other high-impact stories on multiple platforms.

Base pay range

$75,000.00 / yr - $95,000.00 / yr

Responsibilities

• Deliver exclusive stories and cover breaking news across Los Angeles that drive engagement and audience for the California Post.
• Write fast, clean, and compelling copy that aligns with the Post’s distinctive voice and style
• Spot stories with viral or exclusive potential
• Develop sources across city agencies, emergency services, and local communities to get the inside track on stories
• Monitor court filings, public records, and social media for scoops and trending topics
• Collaborate with editors and fellow reporters to ensure comprehensive and coordinated coverage
• File updates in real time and across multiple platforms, including web, social, mobile, and video
• Uphold the highest journalistic standards of accuracy, fairness, and integrity

Note : The New York Post adheres to a hybrid work model. This role will be expected to report into the office 4 days per week (subject to change depending on business needs).
