We are seeking a Staff Attorney to join our team in Los Angeles .

We are the nation’s largest legal and civil rights organization for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI). Our mission is to advocate for civil rights, provide legal services and education, and build coalitions to positively influence and impact Asian Pacific Americans and to create a more equitable and harmonious society. We serve more than 15,000 individuals and organizations annually, focusing on the most vulnerable members of AAPI communities while also building a strong voice for civil rights and social justice. Our Advancing Justice affiliates are in Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C., enriching and serving communities nationwide.

Qualifications

  • J.D. and active membership in the California State Bar
  • Minimum two years of litigation experience
  • Background in public interest, voting rights, or social issues preferred
  • Valid driver’s license or access to transportation
  • Role Responsibilities

    As part of the Impact Litigation program, under the supervision of the Managing Attorney, the Staff Attorney will :

  • Perform client counseling and legal representation
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal documents
  • Meet with clients and community partners
  • Investigate cases, participate in depositions, court proceedings, and mediations
  • Day-to-Day Activities

  • 45% Client Advocacy : Advising clients, preparing court filings, legal research, collaborating with partners, representing clients in proceedings
  • 35% Voting Rights Advocacy : Investigating and litigating voting rights violations, working on amici briefs, representing populations in court and administrative proceedings
  • 20% Other Advocacy : Community education, supporting legal clinics, collaborating with community partners, policy research, and other duties as assigned
