Role Overview
The Quality Manager will lead the site’s quality management system, driving continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer expectations. This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance strategic oversight with day-to-day problem solving on the production floor, while also supporting GPA’s broader regional operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead, maintain, and continually improve the ISO 9001 quality management system.
- Develop, implement, and monitor quality assurance policies, procedures, and metrics.
- Define, track, and report on Quality KPIs (e.g., scrap / rework rates, customer complaints, audit findings, supplier performance).
- Train, mentor, and develop cross-functional teams on quality standards and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Serve as the primary contact for quality audits (internal, external, and customer).
- Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective / preventive actions (CAR) to resolve quality issues.
- Partner with operations and engineering teams to enhance process capability and reduce defects.
- Manage customer complaints and ensure timely resolution.
- Oversee supplier quality management and ensure vendor compliance with GPA standards.
- Lead Lean / Six Sigma initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce waste.
- Support quality processes across multiple GPA facilities in Southern California and Mexicali, Mexico, including on-site visits as needed.
- Provide senior leadership with regular reports on trends, KPI performance, and progress toward strategic quality objectives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field (advanced degree a plus).7+ years of experience in quality management, preferably in manufacturing or packaging.Strong knowledge of quality tools, including :SPC (Statistical Process Control) – monitoring and controlling processes with data.FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) – risk assessment of potential failures.DOE (Design of Experiments) – structured testing of process variables.MSA (Measurement System Analysis) – ensuring reliability of measurement methods.RCA (Root Cause Analysis) – identifying and solving the true source of issues.Experience in KPI development, measurement, and reporting to senior leadership.Proven track record in leading teams and implementing quality improvements.Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred (written and verbal).Ability to travel regionally to support quality processes, RCA’s, and CAR’s across multiple sites in Southern California and Mexicali, Mexico.Seniority level
