Overview
The Director of Nursing Administration is responsible for 24 / 7 oversight of business operations including Capacity Management, Float Pool, and nursing productivity. The role involves collaborating with nursing leaders to develop staffing strategies, executing operational projects, and managing financial planning, organization operations, and workforce initiatives under the guidance of the Chief Nursing Officer.
Essential Duties
- Ensure compliance with governing regulations such as Title 22 and JCAHO, maintaining nursing practice standards.
- Participate in workforce governance committees.
- Develop and implement staffing solutions and oversee staffing offices and contract labor operations.
- Coordinate staffing, budgeting, and financial communication across departments.
- Develop strategic financial and operational plans, monitor budgets, and analyze variances.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency.
- Negotiate effectively and resolve conflicts diplomatically.
- Collaborate with managers on staffing, policies, and procedures aligned with professional standards.
- Manage project plans, communicate across enterprise, and develop metrics to evaluate success.
- Serve as a financial operations expert for nursing leadership.
- Foster effective communication and relationships within nursing and with other departments.
- Ensure proper staffing, orientation, training, and continuing education in partnership with HR and Education departments.
- Support shared governance and monitor satisfaction metrics among staff, patients, and physicians.
- Oversee space / resource utilization and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Required)Master’s Degree in Nursing, Business Administration, or Healthcare Administration (Required)At least 2 years of leadership experience in nursing administration and workforce operations (Required)Minimum 4 years of nursing experience in a hospital-based acute care setting (Required)Experience managing healthcare clinical operations or finance (Required)Strong process improvement skills (Required)Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills (Required)Understanding of California staffing laws and collective bargaining agreements (Required)Experience with staffing solutions across multiple hospitals (Required)Proficiency in nurse staffing, acuity, patient throughput systems (Required)Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate in Nursing Practice or PhDExperience in a union environment and managing contract laborLeadership motivation, project management, Lean principles, and computer skills including Microsoft Office, TableauSpecialty certifications related to Healthcare LeadershipLicenses and Certifications
California RN LicenseBasic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart AssociationFire Life Safety Training (LA City) within 30 days of hire (if applicable)The annual salary range is $133,120 - $219,648, based on various factors including experience and responsibilities.
